How Spinal Decompression Can Relieve Pain

Nonsurgical spinal decompression is a pain-free procedure that uses motorized traction to ease the pain. It requires the person to be fully clothed and fit with a harness around the pelvis and trunk. They’ll lie face down or on their back on a computer-controlled table as the doctor customizes the treatment to their exact needs, targeting injured joints and discs. Treatment lasts 30 to 45 minutes each session. It can be used in tandem with other treatments such as ultrasound, electric stimulation, and heat or cold therapy and can relieve sciatica, injured or diseased spinal nerve roots, Posterior Facet Syndrome, and herniated discs. It does this by gently stretching the spine which changes its position of it and alleviates pressure on the spinal discs. This makes herniated and bulging discs retract and promotes movement of oxygen, water, and nutrient-rich fluid into them, so they can heal. After four weeks of treatment, many patients experience relief.
