How to Stay Active at Work

Many jobs force you to sit at a computer all day long, toiling away. And when you get home, you are too tired to take on any activities. That means you are sitting around all day long, but there are ways you can stay active even while you are at work. Not only is it better for your health, but it can boost your productivity at the office. Here are some of the ways your chiropractor in Baltimore County suggests you can stay active while at work.

Take Walking Breaks

Whether your office is large or small, there are places you can walk. Instead of emailing a co-worker sitting down the hall, get up and walk over to them to tell them about the meeting that has been rescheduled. You could also walk around the building during a nice day or when you take a lunch break, use the stairs as a way to get a few extra steps into your day. Those walk breaks can add up as the day moves on.

Move Every Half An Hour

It can be hard to break the flow as you get into the workday, but it’s a good idea to move around every half an hour or so. Set a timer to remind you to get up, stretch, walk around your desk a few times, take a bathroom break, or even just stand up and move around a bit before you get back into things.

Use That Lunch Break

Most people get a certain amount of time to take a lunch break, but that doesn’t mean you have to sit down at your desk and eat, right? Take your lunch for a walk and eat on the go. Grab a friend and walk a bit while you chat and get those calories in. It’s tempting to work through lunch, but it’s really in the best interest of your health not to.
